How to size these old hooks?

Hi! I've got a quick question for you all. I recently came across a bunch of old bone or plastic hooks, and I'm super excited to use them!

The only problem is that all the size markings have rubbed off over the years, and I have no idea what size they are.
What's a good way to figure out the size? I've heard about using a hook gauge, but are there any other clever tricks?

Also, do they need any special care? Thanks in advance for any tips!

Hmm from my experience, a hook gauge is the best way, just slide the hook through the holes until it fits. Ive also used a caliper and compared the measurement to a size chart when i couldn’t find my gauge. For care, I just wipe them clean and keep them dry , bone hooks especially don’t like moisture.
