Pencil-style crocheting

To those who crochet with the pencil hold, have you ever tried the cheaper Furls hooks? Care to share how they feel? I've figured that most hooks are designed for the knife grip, even the cylindrical ones... the handle sits too high on the shaft, making proper leverage tricky. To make them usable, i've had to modify nearly every hook i own with clay handles, pencil grips or hook cushions. The Susan Bates cushions are okay but not perfect, and I really miss the Yarn Valet covers for thin metal hooks. I'd love to hear if anyone's found better options for pencil-style crocheting.

I mostly crochet using the pencil-hold too, and Furls hooks felt so awkward I ended up sticking with Clover and Tulip Etimo instead

@Rocketlaunch Furls hooks, especially the streamline and odyssey lines are actually pretty comfy, for me the handle sits nicely in your fingertips, and the balance feels surprisingly natural for pencil hold, even if it looks bulky at first so I'm surprised you found it awkward

tbh, most ergonomic hooks are kinda just marketing lol. pencil or knife grip barely matters, and honestly tweaking a cheap hook usually works better than dropping bucks on fancy ones

I use mostly Furls and Ophire hooks. There are some similar to Furls on Amazon. Also, have you tried any of the lighted hooks?
