newborn crochet hat size chart

I'm a new mom (wow I can finally say it!) and new to doing crochet too thought one of my first projects would be a crochet hat for my adorable newborn! I'm torn between using cotton or bamboo but someone told me the type of yarn i would use could affect sizing. Is there like a size chart I can check?

Congratulations on the new baby and yes, that's the perfect project for the little one! I personally use cotton since its lightweight and breathable.

and to answer your question i believe its around 33-35 cm for a newborn head. Hope this helps and post a picture of the hat when u can!

nahhh, I have to share in this joy, congrats on being a new mom. For crochet hats, I think it's more about the yarn's thickness and stretch. Cotton is stiffer and less stretchy, so it might be a little snugger, while bamboo is softer and more flexible and size charts, yeah, they exist , I think @knit-knack has already helped out a bit there

Congratulations mama, wishing you all the best. As for the yarn, merino wool for newborns since it's gentle on the skin and it stretches so it won't be uncomfortable to that tiny head. My suggestion is to measure your cutie's head and go according to that size since all babies are different sizes.
