What are go to brand hooks

Okay, I have to ask, what's everyone's go to brand for crochet hooks? I've been using the same basic aluminum set for a while now, there's no name, probably from a beginner kit, and while they've gotten the job done, my hands are starting to feel it during longer sessions and then I finally realized… maybe it's time to level up, with my lil research, I keep hearing about Clover Amour and Tulip Etimo, but then I see others crazy over furls or even ergonomic resin hooks from indie makers, I do a lot of amigurumi and some finer thread work, so comfort and control really really matter, so yeah, the floor is open please

For amigurumi and finer thread work, you really can't go wrong with either Clover Amour or Tulip Etimo!!

Many find the Clover Amour's handle shape incredibly comfortable for extended periods, and the hook itself glides smoothly through yarn. Tulip Etimo hooks are also highly praised for their comfortable grip and precise hook tips, which are excellent for detailed work.

I know someone who also does amigurumi and she said the handle shape of the Furls hooks takes a bit more getting used to.

Anyway, what I find personally helpful is to try borrowing one of whichever hook you're curious about and see how they feel in your hand before committing. Personal preference really plays a huge role!!

This is so relatable! Based on experience, the right hook really does make a world of difference! I also agree with @nw_moocha25, Clover Amour and Tulip Etimo are the two most popular ergonomic hooks for a reason! Both have a smooth aluminum head with a soft, comfy grip but the Amour is slightly tapered, while Etimo is closer to an inline shape. I'd recommend trying one of each in a common size, like a 3.5mm, to see which feels more natural for you! Furls are heavier and very well-balanced but my friend swears it helps her prevent hand fatigue. It's just a big investment so maybe get a single one first if you want to try it out. I think the resin hooks also have a comfier grip but I don't personally know anyone using it. Anyway, whichever you choose, I think upgrading to a better one would be a game-changer for your crochet sessions!
