I have always been amazed when I see people crocheting, but I never learned until recently. I'm a newbie in crochet and wanted to make a simple crochet square. I tried different stitches, and when I did the half double crochet square, the bottom curved. I tried the double crochet and ended up curving again. Can someone tell me what I did wrong, Why is my crochet curving?

I've had this happening to me a lot when i was starting, still not a pro but I found a way to fix this issue that's been troubling me for a while. I'd recommend trying a larger hook for the starting chain and maintain even tension to make sure the edges don't pull too much and get a round edge

my gawd, your comment's quite helpful, I'm gonna try it next time

@LightMyFire hehe, happens to the best of us starting out. well usually, the culprit is almost always tension, either too tight or too loose at the beginning, or maybe even inconsistent as you go, also missing or adding stitches at the ends of rows, especially if you're not sure where to place that first or last stitch. It takes time, and patience… so much patience.

Also, make sure to add an extra stitch spaced out around the circle you are crocheting. You have to expand the rows so it can lay flat.
